Edelweiss was a semester long project at the Entertainment Technology Center. It was sponsored by Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and provided medical staff with a reliable and engaging instrument to screen children for exposure to trauma. Further details are available on the project website.
My primary role was game designer and I was responsible for pitching and storyboarding ideas for the weekly client meetings. We had to change our approach often and it took several iterations to arrive at a concept that satisfied all requirements. During production, I fleshed out all mechanics and interactions in full detail for the programmers to implement.
I also refined the UI of the app and programmed the hidden screen for the medical personnel to access upon the completion of the experience. This screen provided all relevant information at a glance and also allowed them to reset the app for the next child.
